His contribution to the development of LUT-University has been significant. He did pioneering work for internationalization of LUT-University and he hosted the ICPR conference in 1993 in Lappeenranta. Veikko introduced the concepts of inventory and supply chain management and started the scientific education in those field in Finland.
I had the privilege to be his student, colleague and friend since the middle of 1980’s. He was a scholar and a gentleman, in the true sense of the word, with a great sense of humour. As a board member and a Fellow of the IFPR organization he contributed much to the spirit of our organization and we board members will miss his wise counsel at our Board Meetings.
Veikko is mourned and missed by many colleagues and friends across the world, most of all by his four daughters and eleven grandchildren.
